When Elliot Törnblom fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Åkarp's protests and gave Elliot Törnblom a yellow card for diving instead. Elliot Törnblom hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. If Henric Malm had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Olov Mellberg made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Gunnar Håkansson sent off a good shot on target. Olov Mellberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lars Molander in the 32nd minute of the match. A collision led to Husby-Rekarne getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Thomas Waller hit a great ball. In the 34th minute, Ted Ahlroht sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Husby-Rekarne's Olov Mellberg didn't even have to move. With an all-out effort, Åkarp's Olov Mellberg threw himself towards the right post 37 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Greger Apelkvist, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 42 minutes into the match, Gunnar Håkansson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Olov Mellberg. Husby-Rekarne's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gunnar Håkansson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Lars Molander was the one to do the kick off. Åkarp's Lars Molander got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kristian Nerli made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gösta Rolfsson in the 56th minute. Åkarp's Kristian Nerli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Henric Malm in the 61st minute of play. After 62 played minutes Åkarp got a freekick which was hit by Elliot Törnblom. In the 66th minute, Greger Apelkvist hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lars Molander in the 70th minute of play forced Husby-Rekarne's goalkeeper Olov Mellberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gunnar Håkansson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Olov Mellberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 85th minute, Henric Malm fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Kristian Nerli, passed just outside the right post. Kristian Nerli came out of the goal in the 85th minute to try and stop a shot by Husby-Rekarne's Gösta Rolfsson. But to his dismay, Gösta Rolfsson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Henric Malm received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. In the 93rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Husby-Rekarne's goalkeeper Olov Mellberg, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Thomas Waller during the 94th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 94th match minute, Husby-Rekarne was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Thomas Waller to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Åkarp had won after a very even match.
