When Torsten Edström came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Sävedalen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Torsten Edström couldn't finish the play. Torsten Edström received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Olov Mellberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sävedalen's Sven Bruhn proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 10th minute of the match, managed to save Sävedalen from getting a goal against them. A collision led to Sävedalen getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Kim Rosendahl hit a great ball. Sven Bruhn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Henric Malm in the 12th minute of the match. Gösta Rolfsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Olov Mellberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Torsten Edström, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 24th minute, Rickard Larsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 25th minute of the match Petter Grep shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sven Bruhn showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Karl-Ove Blomqvist hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. In the 27th minute Torsten Edström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olov Mellberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had gone on for 33 minutes, Henric Malm took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Sven Bruhn to make any attempt to save it. Sven Bruhn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Henric Malm in the 44th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kent Wassenius in the 48th minute of play forced Husby-Rekarne's goalkeeper Olov Mellberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Henric Malm to strike the kick off in the second half. Sven Bruhn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gösta Rolfsson in the 53rd minute of play. Henric Malm sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 61 minutes into the match, Husby-Rekarne's goal looked a bit too open when Kent Wassenius came free, but Olov Mellberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 66 minutes, Petter Grep mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Husby-Rekarne and the Sävedalen players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 66th match minute, Husby-Rekarne was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Petter Grep to maneuver through the defense.
