Bernt Asklöv made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Per-Arne Bröms in the 6th minute of play. 7 minutes into the game, Olof Klemensson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Linköping's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ninjas in Pyjamas is back the free kick. A collision led to Linköping getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Olof Klemensson hit a great ball. When Ninjas in Pyjamas is back's Per-Arne Bröms, in the 8th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Ninjas in Pyjamas is back. When the match clock showed 10 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Per-Arne Bröms sped through Linköping's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Bernt Asklöv. Henry Njurenius made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Henrik Kling in the 13th minute of play. Henry Njurenius came out of the goal in the 15th minute to try and stop a shot by Linköping's Henrik Kling. But to his dismay, Henrik Kling quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Bengt Östlund received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Henry Njurenius tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 22nd minute Lukas Biörk shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Henry Njurenius saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 28th minute, Per-Arne Bröms got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 31 minutes into the match, Linköping's Bengt Östlund sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Henry Njurenius narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Ninjas in Pyjamas is back's Rickard Mattsson got a free kick in the 32nd minute. In the 33rd minute, Bengt Östlund got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Linköping's Bernt Asklöv proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to save Linköping from getting a goal against them. In the 43rd minute, Ola Jakobsson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ninjas in Pyjamas is back fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bengt Östlund was the one to do the kick off. Henrik Kling sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 67th minute, Ulf Bolin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 69th match minute, Linköping was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Olof Klemensson to maneuver through the defense. In the 71st minute, Ola Jakobsson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Bernt Asklöv showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ola Jakobsson in the 74th minute of the match. Ivar Ambjörnsson's late challenge caught a Linköping's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ivar Ambjörnsson helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Ninjas in Pyjamas is back getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Ivar Ambjörnsson hit a great ball. If Bengt Östlund had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 79 minutes into the match, Henrik Kling notched a goal, 3-2, to the right of Ninjas in Pyjamas is back's Henry Njurenius. Henry Njurenius was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 83rd minute, Henrik Kling left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Linköping fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-3. Bernt Asklöv showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Per-Arne Bröms, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. In the 96th minute, Per-Arne Bröms ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Bernt Asklöv was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-3. Linköping's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
