Rune Ek made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gösta Vik in the 18th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Jonatan Månsson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gottfrid Ahlbeck was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. Sven-Olof Fribäck sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Kurt Sandström fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ölänningarna's protests and gave Kurt Sandström a yellow card for diving instead. In the 47th match minute, Ölänningarna was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Evert Lindqvist to maneuver through the defense. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gösta Vik was the one to do the kick off. Lars-Erik Hedbom was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 53 minutes into the match. Evert Lindqvist charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Evert Lindqvist the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 61 played minutes FC Pangberg got a freekick which was hit by Kenneth Björkdal. If Sven-Olof Fribäck had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 78 played minutes FC Pangberg got a freekick which was hit by Freddie Malm. Fred Juhlin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rune Ek having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Ölänningarna's Gösta Vik got a free kick in the 88th minute. In the 91st minute of the match FC Pangberg got a corner. Ölänningarna's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Freddie Malm ran over to the corner to take the kick. After 93 minutes Ölänningarna's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Freddie Malm who took care of the corner kick. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
