Bo-Erik Brandt might have been able to make a better finish in the 5th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bengt-Arne Alefors. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bo-Erik Brandt ran back to his position shaking his head. If Bo-Erik Brandt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Mariestads BK's Yngve Brun got a free kick in the 9th minute. Bo-Erik Brandt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bengt-Arne Skoog didn't quite understand what happened when in the 18 minute of the game managed to get a great opportunity for a goal and then missed the goal by a feet. Yngve Brun received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Patrik Jakobsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bengt-Arne Alefors made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bo-Erik Brandt in the 26th minute of play. Bengt-Arne Skoog received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Patrik Jakobsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bengt-Arne Alefors showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bo-Erik Brandt in the 30th minute of the match. When Göran Askberg came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Viksjö IK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Göran Askberg couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Mariestads BK booed when Viksjö IK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Axel Bjursell didn't get a good kick on the ball. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Bengt-Arne Skoog fired away a difficult shot at goal in the 55th minute. He almost succeeded, but the ball went over. It was a very nice shot. Yngve Brun received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Patrik Jakobsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Patrik Jakobsson came out of the goal in the 66th minute to try and stop a shot by Mariestads BK's Bengt-Arne Skoog. But to his dismay, Bengt-Arne Skoog quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. In the 71st minute, Göran Askberg got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 73rd minute Bo-Erik Brandt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bengt-Arne Alefors saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 75th minute, Bo-Erik Brandt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Yngve Brun sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Göran Askberg during the 86th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Mariestads BK booed when Viksjö IK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Göran Askberg didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Bengt-Arne Skoog had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. For all the effort they put into the match, the Viksjö IK players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Mariestads BK.
