The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to Utö getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. William Fastesson hit a great ball. Eric Beck showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hans Ferm in the 12th minute of the match. If Stefan Wallin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Per-Oskar Pålsson hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. After having played for 27 minutes, Lennart Svartengren managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Utö's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lennart Svartengren was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Insjön IK's zone, Gabriel Nordgren stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paul Runberg came out of the goal and Gabriel Nordgren tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Paul Runberg stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Stefan Wallin's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. The audience was convinced that Stefan Wallin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Paul Runberg was relentless in the 33rd minute of the game. 0-1 became the score in the 39th minute when Stefan Wallin elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. In the 45th minute, Viktor Forsman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Insjön IK players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Utö were winning 0-1.

The supporters of Utö booed when Insjön IK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ulrik Hylander didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpected shot in the 53rd minute by Stefan Wallin got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Utö's Eric Beck played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Viktor Forsman in the 56th minute of play. 57 minutes into the game, one of Insjön IK:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Inge Söderström shot the penalty kick right outside the post. When Hans Ferm fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Insjön IK's protests and gave Hans Ferm a yellow card for diving instead. In the 63rd match minute, Insjön IK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hans Ferm to maneuver through the defense. Stefan Wallin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 81st minute, Hans Ferm hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Paul Runberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kjell-Arne Gabrielsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kjell-Arne Gabrielsson took the ball and in the 97 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Paul Runberg. Paul Runberg dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2.
