After 7th play minutes Carl Frykberg shot 0-1, a short shot which went by Michael Fagerberg and just under the crossbar into goal. Michael Fagerberg came out of the goal in the 13th minute to try and stop a shot by Djurgårdens if's Carl Frykberg. But to his dismay, Carl Frykberg quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Tomas Enström received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Evert Säfström tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 23 minutes into the game, Casper Persson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Djurgårdens if's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Åre FK the free kick. In the 23rd match minute, Djurgårdens if was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Casper Persson to maneuver through the defense. Evert Säfström made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tomas Enström in the 30th minute. In the 36th match minute, Djurgårdens if was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Manfred Skarkman to maneuver through the defense. Evert Säfström made a fantastic save in the 40th minute, when Tomas Enström sent off a good shot on target. Henry Gustafsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Djurgårdens if's Evert Säfström proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 44th minute of the match, managed to save Djurgårdens if from getting a goal against them. In the 45th minute, Manfred Skarkman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half Djurgårdens if were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Henry Gustafsson in the 53rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Evert Säfström saved Djurgårdens if from getting behind. Evert Säfström showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Enström, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. Evert Säfström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Henry Gustafsson in the 55th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Åre FK's Bo-Erik Rosen got a free kick in the 60th minute. In the 62nd minute, Manfred Skarkman got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Manfred Skarkman got free with Michael Fagerberg in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 71 played minutes Åre FK got a freekick which was hit by Henry Gustafsson. Erland Ahlén's late challenge caught a Åre FK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Erland Ahlén helped the player get up and apologised. In the 75th minute, one of Djurgårdens if:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Djurgårdens if. Evert Säfström had in the 77thth minute some difficulties stopping Olof Wennerquist's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Evert Säfström didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Olof Wennerquist went, in the 77th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Tomas Enström sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alf Skager struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Evert Säfström didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Åre FK. Carl Frykberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 99th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Åre FK supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Djurgårdens if's performance. The match ended with a win for Djurgårdens if.
