The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Töreboda RK booed when Staffanstorp was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leo Bokelund didn't get a good kick on the ball. Staffanstorp's Nils-Åke Wiberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reine Jonasson in the 4th minute of play. In the 5th minute, Mats Hedström reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Thor Sjödin. The goal made the score 1-0. After a rather tough play, Töreboda RK's Svante Rosén got a free kick in the 8th minute. Mats Hedström's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 12thth minute, Thor Sjödin skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. When Oscar Bruse came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Staffanstorp fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Oscar Bruse couldn't finish the play. Mats Hedström sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jan-Ove Delin during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 23 minutes into the game, one of Staffanstorp:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 25th minute there was a penalty for Töreboda RK. Wictor Frisk stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Nils-Åke Wiberg. 1-1. Staffanstorp's Mats Hedström suffered a torn muscle in his foot after 28 minutes and couldn't finish the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Wictor Frisk during the 29th minute. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Thor Sjödin. Thor Sjödin made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Oscar Bruse sent off a good shot on target. Georg Svanberg's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Thor Sjödin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. Oscar Bruse sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Mark Bengtsson came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Staffanstorp fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mark Bengtsson couldn't finish the play. If Oscar Bruse had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 41 minutes, Sven-Edvin Alstedt managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Staffanstorp's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sven-Edvin Alstedt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 47th minute, Staffanstorp's Oscar Bruse dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-1. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Oscar Bruse to strike the kick off in the second half. Thor Sjödin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oscar Bruse in the 53rd minute of play. 57 minutes into the match, Töreboda RK's goal looked a bit too open when Oscar Bruse came free, but Thor Sjödin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 62 minutes into the match, Oscar Bruse had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Thor Sjödin. Töreboda RK's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Oscar Bruse was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-1. Ingvar Gråberg charged in rather forcefully in the 71st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ingvar Gråberg the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play.
