Jan-Erik Westerstrand made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Dick Albohm sent off a good shot on target. Sven Bäcklin charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sven Bäcklin the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Jan-Erik Westerstrand didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rinkaby FK. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Alf Melin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rinkaby FK's supporters rose to their feet, but Alf Melin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jan-Erik Westerstrand breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tomas Billström could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Jan-Erik Westerstrand made a huge save. After a defensive mix-up in Äng's zone, Alf Melin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jan-Erik Westerstrand came out of the goal and Alf Melin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Holger Forssell to make the kick off. Claes Hallgren kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 65th minute, Alf Melin managed to get in a good position for a shot. In the 74th minute Dick Albohm shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jan-Erik Westerstrand saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dick Albohm recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the Äng defense, Alf Melin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jan-Erik Westerstrand. The Äng fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jan-Erik Westerstrand should have stopped the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Max Danielsson during the 93rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 93 played minutes Rinkaby FK got a freekick which was hit by Max Danielsson. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Rinkaby FK fully deserved thier win.
