If Pontus Bergqvist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 22 minutes into the game, Rickard Bergström cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Per-Olof Bergqvist was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 36th minute of the match Jimmy Fristedt shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Per-Olof Bergqvist showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Per-Olof Bergqvist took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valdemar Granqvist, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Målsryd's Per-Olof Bergqvist proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save Målsryd from getting a goal against them. In the 43rd minute, Leif Åberg left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sporting Leeds Academy fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. Dan Lundgren received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Per-Olof Bergqvist tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dan Lundgren to strike the kick off in the second half. Per-Olof Bergqvist showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rickard Bergström, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Målsryd's Per-Olof Bergqvist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dan Lundgren in the 68th minute of play. The supporters of Målsryd booed when Sporting Leeds Academy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valdemar Granqvist didn't get a good kick on the ball. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Per-Olof Bergqvist showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dan Lundgren in the 83rd minute of the match. Dan Lundgren sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 86th minute Dan Lundgren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Per-Olof Bergqvist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rickard Bergström received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute.
