The supporters of BK Merzog booed when Sjötofta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jörgen Deckbergh didn't get a good kick on the ball. BK Merzog's Jonas Hökqvist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mark Hellqvist in the 5th minute of play. BK Merzog's Jan-Erik Tinglöf was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 6th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Jan-Erik Tinglöf received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Nils Josefsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Knut Gernberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nils Josefsson having to interfere. The BK Merzog fans' excitement grew in the 20th match minute when BK Merzog's Jan-Erik Tinglöf looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Jonas Hökqvist showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mark Hellqvist, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Nils Josefsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jan-Erik Tinglöf in the 25th minute of the match. Jonas Hökqvist didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mark Hellqvist went, in the 26th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. A collision led to Sjötofta getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Esbjörn Söderström hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Sjötofta's zone, Knut Gernberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nils Josefsson came out of the goal and Knut Gernberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Knut Gernberg might have been able to make a better finish in the 39th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nils Josefsson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Knut Gernberg ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 40th match minute, Sjötofta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Valdemar Forsberg to maneuver through the defense. BK Merzog's Jonas Hökqvist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mattias Hjälm in the 43rd minute of play. Jonas Hökqvist took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mattias Hjälm, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jan-Erik Tinglöf to make the kick off. 51 minutes into the game, Mark Hellqvist was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sjötofta's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave BK Merzog the free kick. After 51 played minutes Sjötofta got a freekick which was hit by Mark Hellqvist. Nils Josefsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Reine Alén, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. After 56 played minutes Sjötofta got a freekick which was hit by Esbjörn Söderström. In the 60th minute there was a penalty for BK Merzog. Leif Gummeson stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Nils Josefsson. 3-1. Nils Josefsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jan-Erik Tinglöf, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. 64 minutes into the match, Jan-Erik Tinglöf notched a goal, 4-1, to the right of Sjötofta's Nils Josefsson. Nils Josefsson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 69 minutes, Martin Haraldsson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sjötofta and the BK Merzog players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Sjötofta's Martin Haraldsson got a free kick in the 70th minute. After 71 minutes of play, BK Merzog's Jan-Erik Tinglöf made it 5-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nils Josefsson was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 76th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sjötofta's goalkeeper Nils Josefsson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A collision led to Sjötofta getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Martin Haraldsson hit a great ball. 89 minutes into the game, BK Merzog's Jan-Erik Tinglöf nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nils Josefsson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 6-1. Reine Alén fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nils Josefsson having to interfere. Gösta Larsfält fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nils Josefsson having to interfere. BK Merzog walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
