Spectators: 6663 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1663, VIP seats: 0) Vetlanda's Jens-Åke Säf started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute Dick Ahlström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hubert Johnsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hubert Johnsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kenneth Kvick in the 10th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Vetlanda's Tom Alefors got a free kick in the 11th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Walter Ljungberg during the 14th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Herräng BK fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 13th minute. Penalty! The score was 1-0 after a penalty in the 15th minute, where Vetlanda:s Rikard Hernström tricked Herräng BK:s Karl-Erik Hjelm with a difficult ball by the left post. A sloppy throw-in by Samuel Smedfeldt in the 23rd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Herräng BK's Kenneth Kvick. Herräng BK's Karl-Erik Hjelm proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Herräng BK from getting a goal against them. After 26 played minutes Herräng BK got a freekick which was hit by Kenneth Kvick. Herräng BK's Bengt-Arne Bäcklin was substituted for Fredrik Högström. After 35 played minutes Vetlanda got a freekick which was hit by Otto Widberg. Kenneth Kvick fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hubert Johnsson having to interfere. Hubert Johnsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dick Ahlström, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Dick Ahlström managed to get in a good position for a shot. Herräng BK's supporters rose to their feet, but Dick Ahlström was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hubert Johnsson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 45 minutes into the match, Henry Gustafsson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Hubert Johnsson. Vetlanda's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Henry Gustafsson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Dick Ahlström made the kick off in the second half. In the 56thth minute of the game Dick Ahlström who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Vetlanda's Hubert Johnsson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Otto Widberg struck a weak shot in the 61st minute. Karl-Erik Hjelm didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vetlanda. Henry Gustafsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 69 minutes, Henry Gustafsson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Herräng BK and the Vetlanda players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 69th match minute, Herräng BK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Henry Gustafsson to maneuver through the defense. Georg Lilja received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Hubert Johnsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Henry Gustafsson was shown his second yellow card after 76 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Henry Gustafsson kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. Jens-Åke Säf sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hubert Johnsson was a little too slow when Johannes Hallgren got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 82nd minute. The score was now 1-2. Hubert Johnsson made a fantastic save in the 88th minute, when Bengt-Arne Bäcklin sent off a good shot on target. Dick Ahlström blasted a shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hubert Johnsson having to make a save. When Walter Ljungberg came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Herräng BK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Walter Ljungberg couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Herräng BK booed when Vetlanda was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tom Alefors didn't get a good kick on the ball.
