Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) 4 minutes into the game, Jerry Bergman cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Joachim Lidman was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 6th match minute, Malme was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Frans Vallgren to maneuver through the defense. After 12 minutes of play, Malme's Jerry Bergman made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Joachim Lidman was left in no man's land by his defense there! Vidar Lundin might have been able to make a better finish in the 15th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Joachim Lidman. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Vidar Lundin ran back to his position shaking his head. Petter Harman was out of position in the 24 minute of play, and Henrik Sjöberg capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Henrik Sjöberg really showed his touch with that goal: 2-2. After 28 minutes, Jan Rang mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gunnarsbyn and the Malme players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Gunnarsbyn's Jan Rang got a free kick in the 28th minute. The supporters of Gunnarsbyn booed when Malme was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Håkan Vallman didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 38th minute, Jerry Bergman got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Malme's Petter Harman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Henrik Sjöberg in the 46th minute of play.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Henrik Sjöberg was the one to do the kick off. Lars Sandström sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Petter Harman came out of the goal in the 55th minute to try and stop a shot by Gunnarsbyn's Henrik Sjöberg. But to his dismay, Henrik Sjöberg quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. Malme's Petter Harman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Henrik Sjöberg in the 59th minute of play. After having played for 63 minutes, Jerry Bergman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Malme's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jerry Bergman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jerry Bergman in the 66th minute of play forced Gunnarsbyn's goalkeeper Joachim Lidman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joachim Lidman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jerry Bergman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 73rd minute Lars Sandström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Petter Harman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vidar Lundin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Kjell Olofsson fell near the penalty area in the 93rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gunnarsbyn's protests and gave Kjell Olofsson a yellow card for diving instead. Joachim Lidman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jerry Bergman in the 95th minute of play.
