When Södertälje IF's Dennis Viberg in the 6th minute got a chance for a shot 6th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Svanesund IF's goalie prevented a goal. Dennis Viberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leif Kullander having to interfere. Rolf Olofsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Herman Bogren tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dennis Viberg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Leif Kullander tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Svanesund IF's zone, Dennis Viberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leif Kullander came out of the goal and Dennis Viberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Svanesund IF getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Peder Österberg hit a great ball. Dennis Viberg might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Leif Kullander. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dennis Viberg ran back to his position shaking his head. 24 minutes into the game, Dennis Viberg cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Leif Kullander was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Svanesund IF's Leif Kullander played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dennis Viberg in the 28th minute of play. Rolf Olofsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Herman Bogren having to interfere. Rolf Olofsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dennis Viberg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Leif Kullander tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half Södertälje IF were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rolf Olofsson to make the kick off. Bengt-Arne Petersson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 50th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Rolf Olofsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Leif Kullander made a fantastic save in the 73rd minute, when Dennis Viberg sent off a good shot on target. David Berglund charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed David Berglund the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Södertälje IF getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. David Berglund hit a great ball. When Dennis Viberg came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Södertälje IF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dennis Viberg couldn't finish the play. After 82 minutes, Rolf Olofsson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Svanesund IF and the Södertälje IF players grew even worse after the yellow card. The Södertälje IF supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Södertälje IF would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
