Dennis Viberg's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rudolf Bergström read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 12th minute of play. Dennis Viberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rudolf Bergström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bengt-Arne Petersson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 19 minutes into the game, Rolf Kullander was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Södertälje IF's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gusum the free kick. The supporters of Gusum booed when Södertälje IF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rolf Kullander didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 20 played minutes, Gusum's Fredrik Browall shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Herman Bogren came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Gusum reached it. Herman Bogren made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sven-Åke Wallin in the 21st minute of play. The supporters of Södertälje IF booed when Gusum was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Per-Olof Dahlqvist didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rudolf Bergström acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 24th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Fredrik Nordal. Dennis Viberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gusum's Rudolf Bergström proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save Gusum from getting a goal against them. The corner first didn't look so dangerous but when David Berglund got the ball he succeeded in some way to get through the defenders to deliver a very hard score. Result 1-1. 44 minutes into the match. 48 minutes into the match, Södertälje IF's goal looked a bit too open when Sven-Åke Wallin came free, but Herman Bogren reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Sven-Åke Wallin made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute Sven-Åke Wallin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Herman Bogren saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rudolf Bergström showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dennis Viberg in the 54th minute of the match. Dennis Viberg recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dennis Viberg might have been able to make a better finish in the 65th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rudolf Bergström. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dennis Viberg ran back to his position shaking his head. If Bengt-Arne Petersson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 80 minutes into the match, Gusum's goal looked a bit too open when Bengt-Arne Petersson came free, but Rudolf Bergström reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Gusum's Per-Olof Dahlqvist got a free kick in the 81st minute. Bengt-Arne Petersson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bengt-Arne Petersson took the ball and in the 86 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rudolf Bergström. Rudolf Bergström dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. Calle Vester hit a great ball. 91 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Gusum's Sven-Åke Wallin fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. Gusum's Rudolf Bergström played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bengt-Arne Petersson in the 94th minute of play. For all the effort they put into the match, the Gusum players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Södertälje IF.
