The audience thought a goal was coming when Martin Palmquist got free with Rudolf Bergström in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 14 minutes into the match, Gusum's goalkeeper Rudolf Bergström had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Martin Palmquist. Hjortkvarn's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gusum the free kick. The supporters of Gusum booed when Hjortkvarn was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Martin Palmquist didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rudolf Bergström breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sven-Åke Wallin stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Gusum's Per-Olof Dahlqvist got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Stefan Böcklund had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 66 played minutes Gusum got a freekick which was hit by Andréas Berglund. Hjortkvarn's Vincent Godholm couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 67th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Gusum. Martin Palmquist fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rudolf Bergström having to interfere. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
