After a rather tough play, Mariefred RK's Ulf Öberg got a free kick in the 5th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 9th minute, Ian Arvidsson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mariefred RK's supporters rose to their feet, but Ian Arvidsson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Staffan Nyman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Olof Mossberg succeeded in the game's 14th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-0. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Rydell Rangers's Olof Mossberg in the 19th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Johnny Håning was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Mariefred RK through an amazing save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Olof Mossberg in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Johnny Håning saved Mariefred RK from getting behind. The supporters of Mariefred RK booed when Rydell Rangers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jerry Asplund didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 24 minutes of play, Mariefred RK's Ian Arvidsson made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Staffan Nyman was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Ian Arvidsson came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Mariefred RK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ian Arvidsson couldn't finish the play. Jerry Asplund's late challenge caught a Mariefred RK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jerry Asplund helped the player get up and apologised. In the 29th minute of the match Sten Sjödin sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Staffan Nyman skillfully saved the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robert Nyström in the 40th minute of play forced Rydell Rangers's goalkeeper Staffan Nyman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Pål Hård had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Johnny Håning showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Olof Mossberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Pål Hård received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Johnny Håning tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Olof Mossberg made the kick off in the second half. If Pål Hård had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 61st minute Olof Mossberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Johnny Håning saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sten Sjödin hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. 67 minutes into the match, Mariefred RK's goal looked a bit too open when Pål Hård came free, but Johnny Håning reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Johnny Håning showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pål Hård in the 79th minute of the match. In the 83rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Rydell Rangers's goalkeeper Staffan Nyman, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Staffan Nyman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Robert Nyström in the 91st minute of the match. Johnny Håning made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pål Hård in the 94th minute of play.
