The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Olov Askelöf received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 2nd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Patrik Sjöberg in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Karl-Michael Billvall saved Jävrebyn IK from getting behind. Kalix's Jens-Erik Tolsson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 42nd minute of the match, managed to save Kalix from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, Kalix's Sverker Ingemarsson got a free kick in the 43rd minute. Jens-Erik Tolsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Boris Bure in the 46th minute of play. If Boris Bure had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Boris Bure stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Kalix's Jens-Erik Tolsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Boris Bure in the 55th minute of play. Karl-Michael Billvall made a fantastic save in the 58th minute, when Olov Askelöf sent off a good shot on target. In the 66th minute, Hubert Sjöberg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 69 minutes into the game, Kalix's Olov Askelöf nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Karl-Michael Billvall made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Boris Bolin shot the penalty kick right outside the post. In the 81stth minute of the game Patrik Sjöberg who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Jävrebyn IK's Karl-Michael Billvall was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Olov Askelöf's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 85thth minute, Karl-Michael Billvall skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 87th play minute Olov Askelöf came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Karl-Michael Billvall. 0-2. Kalix's Patrik Sjöberg got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Olov Askelöf fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Karl-Michael Billvall having to interfere. After 99 minutes, Pär Utfal mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Jävrebyn IK and the Kalix players grew even worse after the yellow card. Pär Utfal hit a great freekick 99 minutes into the match. Kalix's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
