The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 6 minutes into the match, Robert Axelsson notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of AC Saluzzo's Alvin Söderlund. Alvin Söderlund was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Manfred Haglund hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kent Kiempe got free with Sören Utter in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to FC Häger getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Manfred Haglund hit a great ball. FC Häger's defense didn't have a chance, in the 17th minute, when Karl-Axel Lindström scored to the left of an out of position Sören Utter, making the score, 1-1. With a little luck, FC Häger's Sören Utter got control of the ball when Kent Kiempe tried to sneak it across the goal line. Henry Clementsson charged in rather forcefully in the 27th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Henry Clementsson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 26 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for AC Saluzzo! In the 28th minute there was a penalty for FC Häger. Fritz Rönn stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Alvin Söderlund. 1-2. In the 37th minute, FC Häger's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Kent Kiempe fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. When Michael Sandström fell near the penalty area in the 39th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored AC Saluzzo's protests and gave Michael Sandström a yellow card for diving instead. Michael Sandström kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, AC Saluzzo's Kent Kiempe got a free kick in the 40th minute. Robert Axelsson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alvin Söderlund having to make a save. After the first half FC Häger were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Egon Pettersson was the one to do the kick off. A collision led to FC Häger getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Harald Danielsson hit a great ball. A hard shot by Kevin Karlstedt from long distance, 58 minutes into the match, got Alvin Söderlund's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. AC Saluzzo's Alvin Söderlund proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save AC Saluzzo from getting a goal against them. After 61 minutes of play AC Saluzzo's Michael Sandström was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 62nd minute, Michael Sandström hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 65th minute FC Häger were awarded a corner. Fritz Rönn went to the cornerflag to take it. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kent Kiempe in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sören Utter saved FC Häger from getting behind. 68 minutes into the match, AC Saluzzo's Kent Kiempe sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sören Utter narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Alvin Söderlund came out of the goal in the 72nd minute to try and stop a shot by FC Häger's Robert Axelsson. But to his dismay, Robert Axelsson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. Robert Axelsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Alvin Söderlund tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, AC Saluzzo's Alvin Söderlund got control of the ball when Egon Pettersson tried to sneak it across the goal line. Kent Kiempe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kent Kiempe might have been able to make a better finish in the 83rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sören Utter. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kent Kiempe ran back to his position shaking his head. 86 minutes into the match, FC Häger's goal looked a bit too open when Kent Kiempe came free, but Sören Utter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Kent Kiempe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The FC Häger supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing FC Häger would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
