The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Edmund Nilsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Egil Söderström in the 3rd minute of the match. Martin Dahlman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Freddie Jansson having to interfere. 12 minutes into the match, Grimstorp FK's goal looked a bit too open when Egil Söderström came free, but Edmund Nilsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Grimstorp FK's zone, Ronny Björklund stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edmund Nilsson came out of the goal and Ronny Björklund tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 27th minute, Martin Dahlman ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Freddie Jansson was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Egil Söderström received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Edmund Nilsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Marcus Uter fell near the penalty area in the 34th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Grimstorp FK's protests and gave Marcus Uter a yellow card for diving instead. In the 35th minute, Marcus Uter hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Egil Söderström managed to get in a good position for a shot. Efesspor's supporters rose to their feet, but Egil Söderström was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Edmund Nilsson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Egil Söderström to strike the kick off in the second half. Egil Söderström struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Edmund Nilsson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Efesspor. Edmund Nilsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Egil Söderström in the 62nd minute of play. Martin Dahlman who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 64thth minute tested the skills of Freddie Jansson when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Ivar Hellgren hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. The audience was convinced that Bernt Brummer's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Freddie Jansson was relentless in the 66th minute of the game. The supporters of Grimstorp FK booed when Efesspor was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ivar Hellgren didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 83rd minute of the match Victor Strandberg shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Edmund Nilsson showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Martin Dahlman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Martin Dahlman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Freddie Jansson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bernt Brummer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
