The supporters of Hillerstorp booed when Hammarby Junior was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roger Kellman didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Jens-Åke Holmgren had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 25 played minutes Hammarby Junior got a freekick which was hit by Roger Kellman. When Hjalmar Sjöberg came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Hammarby Junior fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hjalmar Sjöberg couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Hillerstorp getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Uno Rosen hit a great ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sven-Ove Källberg during the 34th minute. If Tor Sörman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but John Rosén showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Stig Ahlberg to strike the kick off in the second half. Hammarby Junior's Patrick Frisck played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sven-Ove Källberg in the 52nd minute of play. John Rosén showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hjalmar Sjöberg in the 54th minute of the match. 63 minutes into the match, Hillerstorp's goal looked a bit too open when Hjalmar Sjöberg came free, but John Rosén reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 79th minute, Hillerstorp's Tor Sörman dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-1. After 82 played minutes Hillerstorp got a freekick which was hit by Hans Aleberg. 83 minutes into the game, Jakob Bengtsson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Hillerstorp's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hammarby Junior the free kick.
