After 2 played minutes Linköping FK got a freekick which was hit by David Kullander. Karl-Ove Alrot took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from David Kullander, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 7 minutes into the game, Linköping FK's David Kullander nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Karl-Ove Alrot made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Karl-Ove Alrot made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from David Kullander in the 12th minute of play. Olof Lund's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jonas Smed read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 13th minute of play. Manchester City's Karl-Ove Alrot played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Kullander in the 15th minute of play. If Olof Lund had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Ronny Kellbom managed to get in a good position for a shot. Manchester City's supporters rose to their feet, but Ronny Kellbom was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonas Smed breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. David Kullander recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If David Kullander had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Karl-Oskar Lundqvist came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Linköping FK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Karl-Oskar Lundqvist couldn't finish the play. Victor Bergqvist took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 38th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Karl-Ove Alrot. Manchester City's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 39th minute Gunnar Mårtensson suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. 39 minutes into the game, Sten Gråberg was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Manchester City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Linköping FK the free kick. In the 40th minute, Sten Gråberg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If David Kullander had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Karl-Oskar Lundqvist might have been able to make a better finish in the 42nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Karl-Ove Alrot. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Karl-Oskar Lundqvist ran back to his position shaking his head. David Kullander sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Manchester City players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Linköping FK were winning 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ronny Kellbom stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Ronny Kellbom managed to get in a good position for a shot. In the 64th match minute, Linköping FK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Karl-Oskar Lundqvist to maneuver through the defense. If Ronny Kellbom had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Olof Lund scored 1-1 in the 67th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jonas Smed, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Nils-Emil Östensson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 75th minute of the match, but Karl-Ove Alrot made a huge save. David Kullander sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice moves David Kullander could shoot a difficult shot in the 84th minute, which Karl-Ove Alrot however easily saved by the left post. In the 84th minute, David Kullander reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Karl-Ove Alrot. The goal made the score 2-2. After a defensive mix-up in Manchester City's zone, Karl-Oskar Lundqvist stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Karl-Ove Alrot came out of the goal and Karl-Oskar Lundqvist tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Karl-Ove Alrot made an important save on a dangerous shot by David Kullander in the 92nd minute. Despite being the better team, Linköping FK failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
