The attack was good, but when Arne Wik in the 12th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. In the 16th minute Östen Mårtensson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Peter Magnusson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Virestad defense, Mattias Harlén kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ingvar Blomberg. The Virestad fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ingvar Blomberg should have stopped the shot. Peter Magnusson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rudolf Lundberg in the 47th minute of the match.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Arne Wik to strike the kick off in the second half. Östen Mårtensson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. But to his dismay, Mattias Harlén quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. Rudolf Lundberg who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 76thth minute tested the skills of Peter Magnusson when he managed to save the team from getting behind. If Östen Mårtensson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. IRAQ's Peter Magnusson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Karl-Magnus Kihlman in the 88th minute of play. Östen Mårtenssons short, quick shot in the 89thth minute got Peter Magnusson to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 91stth minute of the game Rudolf Lundberg who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but IRAQ's Peter Magnusson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. IRAQ's Peter Magnusson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 97th minute of the match, managed to save IRAQ from getting a goal against them. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. IRAQ were victorious despite being under pressure from Virestad for much of the match.
