The referee ignored Segmon's protests and gave Einar Beck a yellow card for diving instead. Charlie Boklund received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Gunnar Westerberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The tension between the Segmon and the Vargön players grew even worse after the yellow card. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Vargön's zone, Charlie Boklund stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gunnar Westerberg came out of the goal and Charlie Boklund tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Bengt Nordström showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Urban Bäcklin, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. In the 45th minute Urban Bäcklin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bengt Nordström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 47th minute, Urban Bäcklin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Stig Lindberg made a kick off. In the 53rdth minute of the game Stig Lindberg who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Vargön's Gunnar Westerberg was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Urban Bäcklin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bengt Nordström having to interfere. When Ulrik Söderberg came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Vargön fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ulrik Söderberg couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Urban Bäcklin in the 67th minute of play forced Segmon's goalkeeper Bengt Nordström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Henry Borre hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. In the 78th minute Charlie Boklund shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gunnar Westerberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Urban Bäcklin kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Charlie Boklund blasted a shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gunnar Westerberg having to make a save. Urban Bäcklin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Vargön supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Vargön would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
