The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 7 minutes into the match, Åsljunga BK's goal looked a bit too open when Olof Hellström came free, but Andreas Lindgren reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Claes Gustafsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 13 minutes into the match, Tomas Gernberg had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Andreas Lindgren. Åsljunga BK's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tomas Gernberg was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Tomas Gernberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 22 minutes, Tomas Gernberg managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Salabackar United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Gernberg was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Fred Skålberg hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Per Österberg took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 27th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Andreas Lindgren. Åsljunga BK's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Andreas Lindgren made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Gernberg in the 30th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Torbjörn Berggren during the 32nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Åsljunga BK getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Torbjörn Berggren hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Åsljunga BK's zone, Olof Hellström stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Andreas Lindgren came out of the goal and Olof Hellström tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Olof Hellström in the 37th minute of play forced Åsljunga BK's goalkeeper Andreas Lindgren to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 39th minute of the match Salabackar United got a corner. Åsljunga BK's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Adrian Vallengren ran over to the corner to take the kick. Adrian Vallengren made a great header on Salabackar United's corner, it was just that Åsljunga BK's Andreas Lindgren managed to reach the ball for a save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tomas Gernberg during the 41st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 42 played minutes Salabackar United got a freekick which was hit by Tomas Gernberg. Salabackar United's defense didn't have a chance, in the 43rd minute, when Claes Gustafsson scored to the left of an out of position Jens Pil, making the score, 1-1. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Olof Hellström to strike the kick off in the second half. Jens Pil made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claes Gustafsson in the 53rd minute of play. 54 minutes into the match, Salabackar United's goal looked a bit too open when Knut Gernberg came free, but Jens Pil reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Salabackar United's Olof Hellström got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Knut Gernberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jens Pil having to interfere. Olof Hellström recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 1-2 became the score in the 68th minute when Tomas Gernberg elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Jens Pil took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Claes Gustafsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 2-2 became the score in the 80th minute when Knut Gernberg elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. In the 92nd minute, Tomas Gernberg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
