When the match clock showed 28 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Edmund Melander sped through Pilgrimstad FF's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Paul Brogren. Magnus Alebäck made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mats Gustavsson in the 38th minute. Jörgen Glanselius fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Magnus Alebäck having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jörn Nyqvist in the 43rd minute of play forced Pilgrimstad FF's goalkeeper Paul Brogren to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Jörgen Glanselius had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Pilgrimstad FF players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Santa Monica FC were winning 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jörn Nyqvist to make the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Pilgrimstad FF's goalkeeper Paul Brogren had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edmund Melander. In the 57th minute, Pilgrimstad FF's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Jörn Nyqvist fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Jörn Nyqvist received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Paul Brogren tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Peter Strömberg hit a great ball. Mats Gustavsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 70thth minute of the game Jörgen Glanselius who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Santa Monica FC's Magnus Alebäck was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 72 played minutes Pilgrimstad FF got a freekick which was hit by Dan Ekelund. After recieving a nice pass, Santa Monica FC's James Gordon tried to score from far away in the 72nd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 78th minute, Dan Ekelund hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jörgen Glanselius's late challenge caught a Santa Monica FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jörgen Glanselius helped the player get up and apologised. After 79 played minutes Pilgrimstad FF got a freekick which was hit by Jörgen Glanselius. Jörn Nyqvist kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. Paul Brogren made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jörn Nyqvist in the 88th minute of play. Paul Brogren made a fantastic save in the 91st minute, when Peter Strömberg sent off a good shot on target. Peter Strömberg got his second yellow card in the match during the 93rd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After 94 played minutes Santa Monica FC got a freekick which was hit by Peter Strömberg. In the 95th minute Mats Gustavsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Magnus Alebäck saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Magnus Alebäck made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jörgen Glanselius in the 97th minute of play.
