But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rune Lindmark couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Bajen Grabbarna FC's zone, Rune Lindmark stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alexander Sundström came out of the goal and Rune Lindmark tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 18 minutes into the match, Rune Lindmark had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alexander Sundström. Bajen Grabbarna FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rune Lindmark was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Martin Larsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mellösa IK's Anders Dahlberg proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save Mellösa IK from getting a goal against them. Anders Dahlberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Olov Sundberg in the 27th minute of the match. Benjamin Abrahamsson might have been able to make a better finish in the 29th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Anders Dahlberg. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Anders Dahlberg was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Tobias Wennerqvist. Dag Söderberg hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. Mellösa IK's Michael Mellbad couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 46th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Bajen Grabbarna FC. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rune Lindmark to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute Olov Sundberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anders Dahlberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bajen Grabbarna FC's Olov Sundberg got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mellösa IK's Anders Dahlberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benjamin Abrahamsson in the 75th minute of play. In the 77th match minute, Bajen Grabbarna FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Christian Granberg to maneuver through the defense.
