The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Saltholmens FC's Walter Danielsson got a good chance for a goal in the 4th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jonny Sjögren in the 6th minute of play forced Sturefors IK's goalkeeper Tomas Blom to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With 8 minutes on the clock, Hans Jonasson commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. After 7 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Sturefors IK! In the 10th minute there was a penalty for Saltholmens FC. Lucas Sandström stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Tomas Blom. 0-1. Tomas Blom made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Walter Danielsson in the 18th minute of play. Hans Bergren received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Peter Björk tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tomas Blom showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Walter Danielsson in the 23rd minute of the match. 24 minutes into the match, Sturefors IK's goal looked a bit too open when Kennet Rudqvist came free, but Tomas Blom reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Saltholmens FC's Peter Björk got control of the ball when Hans Bergren tried to sneak it across the goal line. Walter Danielsson struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Tomas Blom didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Saltholmens FC. Tomas Blom showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Walter Danielsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Freddie Beckman during the 36th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Ingmar Wästerberg's late challenge caught a Saltholmens FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ingmar Wästerberg helped the player get up and apologised. After 43 played minutes Sturefors IK got a freekick which was hit by Ingmar Wästerberg. In the 45th match minute, Sturefors IK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Freddie Beckman to maneuver through the defense. 48 minutes into the match, Saltholmens FC's Kennet Rudqvist sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tomas Blom narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Saltholmens FC's Peter Björk played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hans Bergren in the 56th minute of play. Sturefors IK's Hans Bergren got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 58 played minutes Saltholmens FC got a freekick which was hit by Jonny Sjögren. After 62 minutes, George Arvidsson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Saltholmens FC and the Sturefors IK players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Saltholmens FC's George Arvidsson got a free kick in the 62nd minute. 63 minutes into the match, Hans Bergren had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Peter Björk. Saltholmens FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hans Bergren was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. If Walter Danielsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Walter Danielsson struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Tomas Blom didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Saltholmens FC. In the 81st minute, Walter Danielsson fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Tomas Blom, passed just outside the right post. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Walter Danielsson in the 85th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tomas Blom prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 86th minute, Kennet Rudqvist made a precise shot to the right of Tomas Blom. Sturefors IK's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. Kennet Rudqvist sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Saltholmens FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
