When the match had gone on for 25 minutes, Knut Björck put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Kurt Lidberg. Kurt Lidberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mats Eckegren in the 34th minute of the match. Knut Björck fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kurt Lidberg having to interfere. 39 minutes into the match, Färjestaden BF's goal looked a bit too open when Leo Eliasson came free, but Kurt Lidberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Allan Hjortsberg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Kurt Lidberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Färjestaden BF's Kurt Lidberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Knut Björck in the 45th minute of play. 47 minutes into the match, Göteborg's goalkeeper Hubert Morat had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fredrik Larsfelt. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Fredrik Larsfelt stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 55 minutes in the game, Allan Hjortsberg fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Kurt Lidberg having to interfere. A collision led to Färjestaden BF getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Marko Hellsing hit a great ball. If Knut Björck had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Leo Eliasson might have been able to make a better finish in the 60th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Kurt Lidberg. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Leo Eliasson ran back to his position shaking his head. With his leg Kurt Lidberg managed to avoid a goal in the 68thth minute, when Göteborg's Knut Björck fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 70th match minute, Färjestaden BF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jan-Olof Henriksson to maneuver through the defense. Joel Strömberg kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. Leo Eliasson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. When Knut Björck came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Göteborg fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Knut Björck couldn't finish the play. Leo Eliasson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Göteborg's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
