A sloppy throw-in by Niklas Frisck in the 2nd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by FC Elleone's Torsten Berglund. A collision led to Färjestad BK getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Karl-Ove Käcker hit a great ball. Roland Grelsson scored 0-1 in the 37th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Walter Haeger, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Henrik Wennerström in the 43rd minute of play forced Färjestad BK's goalkeeper Walter Haeger to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Henrik Wennerström, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 45 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Walter Haeger was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

In the 70th match minute, Färjestad BK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Viggo Nyström to maneuver through the defense. Roland Grelsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Walter Haeger tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the FC Elleone defense, Sonny Blomkvist kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Edwin Trillkott. The FC Elleone fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Edwin Trillkott should have stopped the shot. Edwin Trillkott came out of the goal in the 83rd minute to try and stop a shot by Färjestad BK's Sonny Blomkvist. But to his dismay, Sonny Blomkvist quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. 90 minutes into the game, Färjestad BK's Sonny Blomkvist nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Edwin Trillkott made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roland Grelsson in the 95th minute of play forced Färjestad BK's goalkeeper Walter Haeger to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. FC Elleone's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
