Jens-Åke Åhman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jon Njurenius, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. In the 18th minute Jon Njurenius shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jens-Åke Åhman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Valsjöbyn IFK's Håkan Kristiansson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save Valsjöbyn IFK from getting a goal against them. Erik Hägert sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jörgen Blom received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Håkan Kristiansson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 29th minute, Erik Hägert fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Håkan Kristiansson, passed just outside the right post. If David Fristedt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Sävar booed when Valsjöbyn IFK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jan-Åke Lundgren didn't get a good kick on the ball. Leo Wallman struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Jens-Åke Åhman didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Valsjöbyn IFK. Jon Njurenius might have been able to make a better finish in the 39th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jens-Åke Åhman. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jon Njurenius ran back to his position shaking his head. David Fristedt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Valsjöbyn IFK's Jon Njurenius in the 44th minute got a chance for a shot 44th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Sävar's goalie prevented a goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Håkan Kristiansson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jörgen Blom in the 52nd minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Jon Njurenius managed to get in a good position for a shot. Valsjöbyn IFK's supporters rose to their feet, but Jon Njurenius was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jens-Åke Åhman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jon Njurenius sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Jon Njurenius, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 61 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Jens-Åke Åhman was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. 62 minutes into the game, Valsjöbyn IFK's David Fristedt nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jens-Åke Åhman made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Jörgen Blom blasted a shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Håkan Kristiansson having to make a save. In the 69th minute of the match Ralf Beckström sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Håkan Kristiansson skillfully saved the ball. If Erik Hägert had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 73 minutes into the match, Jörgen Blom had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Håkan Kristiansson. Valsjöbyn IFK's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jörgen Blom was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. 78 minutes into the match, Sävar's goalkeeper Jens-Åke Åhman had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jon Njurenius. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Leo Wallman managed to get in a good position for a shot. Valsjöbyn IFK's supporters rose to their feet, but Leo Wallman was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
