Spectators: 6724 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1664, VIP seats: 60) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Jens-Ola Ahlstedt got the match started through his kick off. Fotball Club Z's Jens-Ola Ahlstedt got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kim Sjögren made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jens-Ola Ahlstedt in the 12th minute of play. Fotball Club Z's Petter Myr played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adam Tunander in the 16th minute of play. Jens-Ola Ahlstedt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kim Sjögren having to interfere. When Henry Skröder fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vårgårda IK's protests and gave Henry Skröder a yellow card for diving instead. After 22 played minutes Vårgårda IK got a freekick which was hit by Henry Skröder. After having played for 23 minutes, Jens-Ola Ahlstedt managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fotball Club Z's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jens-Ola Ahlstedt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Vårgårda IK's Patrick Kuse got a free kick in the 26th minute. Adam Tunander sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kim Sjögren showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kenneth Stolpe, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adam Tunander in the 44th minute of play forced Fotball Club Z's goalkeeper Petter Myr to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Jens-Ola Ahlstedt in the 57th minute of play forced Vårgårda IK's goalkeeper Kim Sjögren to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Kenneth Stolpe managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fotball Club Z's supporters rose to their feet, but Kenneth Stolpe was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kim Sjögren breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 63 minutes, Jens-Ola Ahlstedt managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fotball Club Z's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jens-Ola Ahlstedt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Patrick Dahlgren's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Petter Myr read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 66th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Patrick Dahlgren managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vårgårda IK's supporters rose to their feet, but Patrick Dahlgren was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Petter Myr breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jens-Ola Ahlstedt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Fotball Club Z's Kenneth Stolpe got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kim Sjögren made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jens-Ola Ahlstedt in the 77th minute of play. Henry Skröder was shown his second yellow card after 79 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 80th minute, Henry Skröder hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Kim Sjögren was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Örjan Viberg. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Johan Nordmark in the 83rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Kim Sjögren prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Kenneth Stolpe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 86 minutes into the match, Vårgårda IK's goal looked a bit too open when Jens-Ola Ahlstedt came free, but Kim Sjögren reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alfons Alstedt's late challenge caught a Fotball Club Z's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alfons Alstedt helped the player get up and apologised. After 89 played minutes Vårgårda IK got a freekick which was hit by Alfons Alstedt. 92 minutes had been played when some careless play by Vårgårda IK's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Örjan Viberg was slow to take the kick. During this time Fotball Club Z's players had a chance to rest. Fotball Club Z's Örjan Viberg was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Kim Sjögren in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
