But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ingvar Hedbom couldn't finish the play. In the 30th minute Alvin Pihl shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bertil Ekeroth saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Stellan Östensson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ulf Moberg in the 32nd minute. Thanks to some nice moves Ulf Moberg could shoot a difficult shot in the 35th minute, which Stellan Östensson however easily saved by the left post. IFK Feckan's Stellan Östensson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save IFK Feckan from getting a goal against them. 45 minutes into the match, IFK Feckan's Alvin Pihl sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Bertil Ekeroth narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

After 53 minutes, Karl-Erik Mårtensson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the IFK Feckan and the Malmö players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of IFK Feckan booed when Malmö was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kim Nordmark didn't get a good kick on the ball. IFK Feckan's Stellan Östensson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Björn Klemensson in the 63rd minute of play. Ingvar Hedbom had several of the Malmö's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 72 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-1 score and a disappointed Bertil Ekeroth as he didn't even see the shot coming. Malte Molin kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. Ulf Moberg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Stellan Östensson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the final whistle sounded IFK Feckan left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Malmö.
