Vindeln's supporters crossed their fingers, but Yngve Berggren was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience was convinced that Yngve Berggren's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Herman Bollström was relentless in the 44th minute of the game. If Stig-Åke Lenberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The referee ignored Vikmanshyttan BF's protests and gave Harry Lagerberg a yellow card for diving instead. In the 90th minute, one of Vikmanshyttan BF:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Vikmanshyttan BF.
