After a rather tough play, Mellösa BF's Dan Beneth got a free kick in the 29th minute. When Olof Törnblom fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Backe BF's protests and gave Olof Törnblom a yellow card for diving instead. Olof Törnblom hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Dan Beneth blasted a shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Vilgot Olenberg having to make a save. If Sven-Erik Gustafsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Backe BF getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Per-Arne Lindqvist hit a great ball. In the 36th minute, Johan Lundblad hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Vilgot Olenberg made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dan Beneth in the 40th minute. In the 42nd minute Sven-Erik Gustafsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vilgot Olenberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Mellösa BF booed when Backe BF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Albin Blomqvist didn't get a good kick on the ball. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sven-Erik Gustafsson to make the kick off. Backe BF's Vilgot Olenberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dan Beneth in the 52nd minute of play. Petter Dahlgren charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Petter Dahlgren the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 53rd minute, Petter Dahlgren hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 54 minutes, Dan Beneth managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mellösa BF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dan Beneth was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A hard shot by Arvid Hermansson from long distance, 58 minutes into the match, got Göran Norberg's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dan Beneth in the 62nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Vilgot Olenberg saved Backe BF from getting behind. Vilgot Olenberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sven-Erik Gustafsson in the 63rd minute of play. Vilgot Olenberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sven-Erik Gustafsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vilgot Olenberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sven-Erik Gustafsson in the 79th minute of the match. Johan Kilström took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 81st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Vilgot Olenberg. Backe BF's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Per-Arne Lindqvist hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. The audience was convinced that Dan Beneth's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vilgot Olenberg was relentless in the 84th minute of the game. The Mellösa BF fans cheered their team off the field, for while Backe BF had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
