But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Timmy Wennerquist couldn't finish the play. Birger Göransson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mikael Göransson having to interfere. In the 26th minute, Linköping FC's Valentin Groth ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Mikael Göransson. Mikael Göransson yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. 36 minutes into the match, Ashington FC's goal looked a bit too open when Valentin Groth came free, but Mikael Göransson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Orvar Lund hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Ashington FC's Henry Nyberg got a free kick in the 45th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Timmy Wennerquist was the one to do the kick off. Birger Göransson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Timmy Wennerquist's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Wilhelm Ekeroth was relentless in the 85th minute of the game. In the 93rd match minute, Ashington FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hannes Juhlin to maneuver through the defense. Birger Göransson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mikael Göransson having to interfere.
