After a defensive mix-up in DZ Blue's zone, Esbjörn Alrot stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Isidoro Valentine came out of the goal and Esbjörn Alrot tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Hamnberg in the 43rd minute of play forced Bristol city's goalkeeper Manfred Kilberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Manfred Kilberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ola Holmgren in the 44th minute of the match. In the 45th minute Nicklas Hellkvist shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Isidoro Valentine saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of DZ Blue booed when Bristol city was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bertil Håning didn't get a good kick on the ball. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! In the 74th minute, Thomas Östensson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 75 minutes into the match, DZ Blue's Rudolf Almqvist broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Bristol city's Manfred Kilberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Hamnberg in the 76th minute of play. When Sigvard Kinell fell near the penalty area in the 79th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored DZ Blue's protests and gave Sigvard Kinell a yellow card for diving instead. After 79 played minutes DZ Blue got a freekick which was hit by Sigvard Kinell. In the 82nd minute, İlhami Torgay got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
