After a rather tough play, Kreta's Lars Säv got a free kick in the 3rd minute. 5 minutes into the match, The Simpsons's Gustaf Andreasson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jan-Åke Norström narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jan-Åke Norström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Thomas Pilgren, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kurt Hafström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stig Pihlblad in the 13th minute of play. A collision led to The Simpsons getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Gustaf Andreasson hit a great ball. After 20 minutes of play, Kreta's Stig Pihlblad made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Kurt Hafström was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 29th minute, Stig Pihlblad left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Kreta fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. In the 33rd match minute, Kreta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alf Skräddare to maneuver through the defense. After 34 played minutes Kreta got a freekick which was hit by Henrik Termander. Thomas Pilgren didn't quite understand what happened when in the 36 minute of the game managed to get a great opportunity for a goal and then missed the goal by a feet. In the 39th minute Lars Säv shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kurt Hafström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Roger Linquist kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. Jan-Åke Norström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thomas Pilgren in the 41st minute of play. In the 43rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Kreta's goalkeeper Jan-Åke Norström, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 47th minute, Roger Linquist got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Roger Linquist was the one to do the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Vidar Täman managed to get in a good position for a shot. Kreta's supporters rose to their feet, but Vidar Täman was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kurt Hafström breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 59 minutes into the game, Roger Linquist recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Kurt Hafström. Roger Linquist showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-3. Thomas Pilgren sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Thomas Pilgren had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thomas Pilgren received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Jan-Åke Norström tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 76th minute, Björn Hökkvist left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The The Simpsons fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. Kurt Hafström made an important save on a dangerous shot by Stig Pihlblad in the 81st minute. 83 minutes into the match, The Simpsons's goal looked a bit too open when Roger Linquist came free, but Kurt Hafström reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 86 minutes into the match, Thomas Pilgren had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jan-Åke Norström. Kreta's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Thomas Pilgren was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. When the match had gone on for 90 minutes, Stig Pihlblad took a quick shot and it went in 2-4 without a chance for Kurt Hafström to make any attempt to save it. Kreta's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
