Bertil Siöberg hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. Ulf Samuelsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Nils Petersson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 25 minutes into the match, Skillingaryd IFK's goal looked a bit too open when Kristian Österberg came free, but Aldo Paul reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Downi FF's Alf Lindström proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save Downi FF from getting a goal against them. Alf Lindström made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Gunnar Örtlund sent off a good shot on target. If Jim Billing had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Downi FF's zone, Viktor Byström stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alf Lindström came out of the goal and Viktor Byström tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Walter Berggren managed to get in a good position for a shot. Downi FF's supporters rose to their feet, but Walter Berggren was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aldo Paul breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

In the 51st minute, Jim Billing reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Aldo Paul. The goal made the score 0-1. After 55 played minutes Skillingaryd IFK got a freekick which was hit by Thor Örtendal. Aldo Paul took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nils Petersson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Downi FF booed when Skillingaryd IFK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Viktor Byström didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jim Billing in the 61st minute of play forced Skillingaryd IFK's goalkeeper Aldo Paul to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alf Lindström showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Viktor Byström, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Roy Nyman was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 70 minutes into the match. In a very dangerous position, a player in Downi FF fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 69th minute. Penalty! An unexpectedly hard shot by Viktor Byström in the 84th minute of play forced Downi FF's goalkeeper Alf Lindström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 87 minutes, Walter Berggren managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Downi FF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Walter Berggren was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jens-Ove Ahlström fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alf Lindström having to interfere.
