In the 18thth minute of the game Stefan Norström who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Hallstavik IK's Roger Gunnarsson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 21st minute Johnny Melander shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roger Gunnarsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 27 played minutes Hallstavik IK got a freekick which was hit by Sture Ahlkvist. After a defensive mix-up in Hallstavik IK's zone, Johnny Melander stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Roger Gunnarsson came out of the goal and Johnny Melander tried to chip the ball over his head. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The corner ended in Karl-Erik Hammarström almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Hallstavik IK's Roger Gunnarsson did a great save.
