Pär Bohlin started the match with the kick off. Knut Johnsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Christer Knutsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 10 played minutes Jimmys Grabbar got a freekick which was hit by Anton Kjellberg. When West Bromwich Albion's Jörgen Petersson in the 11th minute got a chance for a shot 11th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 12th minute, Jörgen Petersson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Robert Vacker in the 16thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Arne Fastesson, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. If Pär Bohlin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Jimmys Grabbar's Pär Bohlin slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Arne Fastesson. That made the score 1-0 after 19 minutes of play. A collision led to West Bromwich Albion getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Bertil Bocklund hit a great ball. Christer Knutsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jörgen Petersson, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. 29 minutes into the game, Rudolf Björk was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Jimmys Grabbar's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave West Bromwich Albion the free kick. In the 29th minute, Rudolf Björk hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 32 minutes into the match, West Bromwich Albion's goal looked a bit too open when Pär Bohlin came free, but Arne Fastesson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Jimmys Grabbar getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Rudolf Björk hit a great ball. After having played for 36 minutes, Jörgen Petersson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. West Bromwich Albion's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jörgen Petersson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Jimmys Grabbar's Andy Berggren got a free kick in the 37th minute. Jörgen Petersson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 39 minutes into the match, Jimmys Grabbar's goal looked a bit too open when Knut Johnsson came free, but Christer Knutsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Knut Johnsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jimmys Grabbar's Christer Knutsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jörgen Petersson in the 43rd minute of play. Robert Vacker could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Arne Fastesson made a huge save. 46 minutes into the match, West Bromwich Albion's Knut Johnsson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Christer Knutsson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Knut Johnsson managed to get in a good position for a shot. West Bromwich Albion's supporters rose to their feet, but Knut Johnsson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Christer Knutsson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Knut Johnsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. West Bromwich Albion's Arne Fastesson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pär Bohlin in the 61st minute of play. Christer Knutsson made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Jörgen Petersson sent off a good shot on target. Knut Johnsson struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Christer Knutsson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for West Bromwich Albion. Christer Knutsson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Knut Johnsson in the 69th minute. 81 minutes into the match, West Bromwich Albion's goal looked a bit too open when Pär Bohlin came free, but Arne Fastesson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 82nd minute Knut Johnsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Christer Knutsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Pär Bohlin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Arne Fastesson was relentless in the 85th minute of the game. Jimmys Grabbar's supporters rose to their feet, but Robert Vacker was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arne Fastesson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The West Bromwich Albion players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Jimmys Grabbar from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
