In the 11th minute Sture Sandström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hans Fogel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 12 minutes of play, Perspolis FC's Andreas Jakobsson made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Hans Fogel was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 18th minute, Staffan Berglund got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Hans Fogel dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. Hans Fogel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sture Sandström in the 36th minute of play. Hans Fogel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Andreas Jakobsson in the 43rd minute of the match. Mats Johansson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Sven-Åke Jakobsson made a huge save. Disappointed in the 1-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Husqvarna FK's Adrian Sjödin was substituted for Wictor Lustig. The wind increased when Sture Sandström made the kick off in the second half. Hans Fogel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Andreas Jakobsson got free with Hans Fogel in the 98th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
