The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute George Gregersson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Henrik Hagberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bror Bergkvist sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 7th minute, Folke Sandström made a precise shot to the right of Henrik Hagberg. Stamford United's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Christoffer Löfgren sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 15 minutes into the match, Storgatan Warriors's goal looked a bit too open when Edvard Ekegren came free, but Björn Haeger reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Stamford United getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Jan-Ove Ekeroth hit a great ball. Henrik Hagberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alfons Andersson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 20 minutes into the match, Edvard Ekegren had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Björn Haeger. Storgatan Warriors's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Edvard Ekegren was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Edvard Ekegrens short, quick shot in the 26thth minute got Björn Haeger to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Stamford United's Jan-Ove Ekeroth got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Storgatan Warriors booed when Stamford United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Egon Sörman didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 41 minutes, Edvard Ekegren managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Stamford United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edvard Ekegren was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Stamford United's Jan-Ove Ekeroth got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Christoffer Löfgren recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Folke Sandström stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Edvard Ekegren received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Björn Haeger tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Uno Josefsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Henrik Hagberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bror Bergkvist in the 71st minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Storgatan Warriors's zone, Edvard Ekegren stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Björn Haeger came out of the goal and Edvard Ekegren tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Edvard Ekegren managed to get in a good position for a shot. Stamford United's supporters rose to their feet, but Edvard Ekegren was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Björn Haeger breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 81st match minute, Stamford United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edwin Hernström to maneuver through the defense. Egon Sörman charged in rather forcefully in the 83rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Egon Sörman the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Stamford United getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Egon Sörman hit a great ball. After 87 played minutes Stamford United got a freekick which was hit by Mats Axelsson. When Edvard Ekegren fell near the penalty area in the 89th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Stamford United's protests and gave Edvard Ekegren a yellow card for diving instead. After 89 played minutes Stamford United got a freekick which was hit by Edvard Ekegren. Mats Axelsson hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. 95 minutes into the match, Storgatan Warriors's Alfons Andersson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Henrik Hagberg narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The Stamford United support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
