Jan Pliszka took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sven-Edvin Blomqvist, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 9th minute Juan Fågel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jan Pliszka saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Stjärtpillarnas IK's Jan Pliszka played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Juan Fågel in the 10th minute of play. 12 minutes into the match, Umeå FC's goalkeeper Olov Boström had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Kjell Galle. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dan Sjöberg got free with Olov Boström in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Robert Nyberg could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Olov Boström made a huge save. In the 16th minute, Robert Nyberg reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Olov Boström. The goal made the score 1-0. In the 19th minute, Umeå FC's Georg Kruse seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Georg Kruse the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Umeå FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Georg Kruse had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 19th minute of the game. One of Umeå FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Stjärtpillarnas IK:s goal. The goalkeeper, Olov Boström, was totally fooled by Stjärtpillarnas IK's Leif Abrahamsson, who 22 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sven-Edvin Blomqvist in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jan Pliszka prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 31 minutes into the match, Sven-Edvin Blomqvist notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Stjärtpillarnas IK's Jan Pliszka. Jan Pliszka was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mark Ingemarsson in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jan Pliszka saved Stjärtpillarnas IK from getting behind. Sven-Edvin Blomqvist sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jan Pliszka came out of the goal in the 38th minute to try and stop a shot by Umeå FC's Sven-Edvin Blomqvist. But to his dismay, Sven-Edvin Blomqvist quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. Stjärtpillarnas IK's Jan Pliszka played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mark Ingemarsson in the 41st minute of play. Kent Sundling's late challenge caught a Stjärtpillarnas IK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kent Sundling helped the player get up and apologised. Kent Sundling kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. Umeå FC's Olov Boström proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save Umeå FC from getting a goal against them.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Leif Abrahamsson made a kick off. Olov Boström showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leif Abrahamsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Sven-Edvin Blomqvist sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jan Pliszka made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Karl-Axel Nordkvist in the 56th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Stjärtpillarnas IK's Robert Nyberg got a free kick in the 62nd minute. In the 64th minute, Umeå FC's Sven-Edvin Blomqvist ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jan Pliszka. Jan Pliszka yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-3. Olov Boström showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leif Abrahamsson in the 67th minute of the match. In the 68th match minute, Umeå FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Karl-Axel Nordkvist to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Harry Jansson in the 69th minute of play forced Umeå FC's goalkeeper Olov Boström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Olov Boström didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Leif Abrahamsson went, in the 71st minute, to the upper right corner, 3-3 was the resulting score. Sven-Edvin Blomqvist recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Sven-Edvin Blomqvist could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 81st minute of the match, but Jan Pliszka made a huge save. In the 82nd minute Umeå FC were awarded a corner. Kent Sundling went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Umeå FC's Kent Sundling to fire away a dangerous shot which Jan Pliszka despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 84 minutes into the match, Umeå FC's Mark Ingemarsson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jan Pliszka narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A collision led to Stjärtpillarnas IK getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Ivan Lindberg hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Kent Sundling managed to get in a good position for a shot. Umeå FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Kent Sundling was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jan Pliszka breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
