In the 24th minute, Blue Saints's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Lucas Olsmann fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. 25 minutes into the game, Tobias Källberg was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Magnus Jelm to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the game, Vänersborg FK's Magnus Jelm nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nils-Åke Danielsson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. The supporters of Vänersborg FK booed when Blue Saints was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sven Alström didn't get a good kick on the ball. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nils-Åke Danielsson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Blue Saints's Nils-Åke Danielsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Per Ivarsson in the 70th minute of play. Magnus Jelm fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nils-Åke Danielsson having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Blue Saints's zone, Magnus Jelm stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nils-Åke Danielsson came out of the goal and Magnus Jelm tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 82 minutes into the match, Vänersborg FK's goal looked a bit too open when Ulf Hultin came free, but Kalle Eskilsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Vänersborg FK fans cheered their team off the field, for while Blue Saints had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
