The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Skövde booed when IF Elfsborg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Skövde's Hubert Bergqvist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arvin Vinström in the 25th minute of play. Skövde's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave IF Elfsborg the free kick. Skövde's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Arvin Vinström was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. After 40 minutes of play, IF Elfsborg's Arvin Vinström made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Hubert Bergqvist was left in no man's land by his defense there! 45 minutes into the game, Sven Odeen recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Robin Olsen. Sven Odeen showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-3. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-4.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Arvin Vinström to make the kick off. In the 55th minute, Arvin Vinström left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The IF Elfsborg fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-5. Elof Fors sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 67th match minute, Skövde was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Magnus Beck to maneuver through the defense. With his leg Hubert Bergqvist managed to avoid a goal in the 68thth minute, when IF Elfsborg's Olle Bryngelsson fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 70th minute Arvin Vinström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hubert Bergqvist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Elof Fors got free with Hubert Bergqvist in the 77th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 79th minute Arvin Vinström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hubert Bergqvist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 82 minutes into the game, Arvin Vinström cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-6. Hubert Bergqvist was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With a little luck, Skövde's Hubert Bergqvist got control of the ball when Olle Bryngelsson tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arvin Vinström in the 93rd minute of play forced Skövde's goalkeeper Hubert Bergqvist to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Elof Fors received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Hubert Bergqvist tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Skövde's Hubert Bergqvist got control of the ball when Elof Fors tried to sneak it across the goal line.
