After 9 played minutes Galatasaray got a freekick which was hit by Björn Åström. Evert Brolin was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 9th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Calle Axelsson during the 10th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Galatasaray getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Calle Axelsson hit a great ball. When Jim Söderberg came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Norrtälje FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jim Söderberg couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Norrtälje FC's zone, Tommy Igelström stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. André Wikander came out of the goal and Tommy Igelström tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 25th minute, Björn Åström hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alf Vinström hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Sten Backlund made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Evert Brolin in the 35th minute of play. In the 38th minute Mats Eckegren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sten Backlund saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jim Söderberg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Sten Backlund tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sten Gustafsson scored 1-0 in the 44th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of André Wikander, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. During the 48th minute of the match Björn Åström completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Björn Åström a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Björn Åström hit a great freekick 48 minutes into the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sten Gustafsson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mats Eckegren got free with Sten Backlund in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Erling Palm fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Galatasaray's protests and gave Erling Palm a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Norrtälje FC booed when Galatasaray was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erling Palm didn't get a good kick on the ball. André Wikander took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sten Gustafsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Evert Brolin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Norrtälje FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Evert Brolin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sten Backlund breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Galatasaray booed when Norrtälje FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alf Vinström didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jim Söderberg's late challenge caught a Galatasaray's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jim Söderberg helped the player get up and apologised. In the 78th match minute, Norrtälje FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jim Söderberg to maneuver through the defense. André Wikander came out of the goal in the 80th minute to try and stop a shot by Galatasaray's Sten Gustafsson. But to his dismay, Sten Gustafsson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. An unexpected shot in the 84th minute by Jan-Ove Lindgren got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After 86 played minutes Galatasaray got a freekick which was hit by Tommy Lingren. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sten Gustafsson in the 93rd minute of play forced Norrtälje FC's goalkeeper André Wikander to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Galatasaray players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
