In the 9th minute, Evert Vassenius got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 11th minute, Henning Alefors managed to get in a good position for a shot. Västerås fotboll klubb's supporters rose to their feet, but Henning Alefors was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bengt-Arne Browald breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 20th minute Sven-Edvin Ahlbeck shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Robin Myr saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Michael Söderström fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robin Myr having to interfere. Michael Söderström struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Robin Myr didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mölndal. A nice corner shot did that Jörgen Klemensson got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Robin Myr quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After having played for 37 minutes, Sven-Edvin Ahlbeck managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mölndal's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sven-Edvin Ahlbeck was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bengt-Arne Browald took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Henning Alefors, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Henning Alefors had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Kjell-Arne Wiman fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Västerås fotboll klubb's protests and gave Kjell-Arne Wiman a yellow card for diving instead. After 45 played minutes Västerås fotboll klubb got a freekick which was hit by Kjell-Arne Wiman. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Henning Alefors managed to get in a good position for a shot. Henning Alefors sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mölndal's Sven-Edvin Ahlbeck got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the final whistle sounded Västerås fotboll klubb left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Mölndal.
