After 18 minutes of play, Gundes Grabbar's Oscar Tönnberg made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Bengt-Arne Browald was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Oscar Tönnberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Stig-Ove Pålsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 26th minute Stig-Ove Pålsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bengt-Arne Browald saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mölndal's Bengt-Arne Browald played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stig-Ove Pålsson in the 30th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Michael Söderström got free with Kjell Christoffersson in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 44thth minute of the game Sven-Edvin Ahlbeck who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gundes Grabbar's Kjell Christoffersson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A collision led to Gundes Grabbar getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Samuel Dahlbom hit a great ball. In the 48th minute, Michael Söderström got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.

After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Sven-Edvin Ahlbeck managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mölndal's supporters rose to their feet, but Sven-Edvin Ahlbeck was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kjell Christoffersson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 57th match minute, Gundes Grabbar was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rudolf Joensson to maneuver through the defense. Mölndal's Michael Söderström got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Oscar Tönnberg showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-2. After 70 minutes, Jörgen Ekman mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gundes Grabbar and the Mölndal players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Mölndal booed when Gundes Grabbar was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jörgen Ekman didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Dan Blomqvist fell near the penalty area in the 75th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mölndal's protests and gave Dan Blomqvist a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Gundes Grabbar booed when Mölndal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dan Blomqvist didn't get a good kick on the ball. Oscar Tönnberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 80th minute, Lars Sjögren hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 82nd minute Stig-Ove Pålsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bengt-Arne Browald saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Stig-Ove Pålsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Bengt-Arne Browald tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Michael Söderström had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Oscar Tönnberg hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. After having played for 93 minutes, Michael Söderström managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mölndal's supporters crossed their fingers, but Michael Söderström was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 94th minute of the game. One of Gundes Grabbar:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Mölndal:s goal. The referee gave Mölndal a penalty, 96 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Jörgen Klemensson, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Gundes Grabbar's Kjell Christoffersson. 1-2. In the 100th minute Michael Söderström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kjell Christoffersson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
