Seating: 1733, VIP seats: 150) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Sten Gustafsson made the kick off which started today's match. The supporters of Mölndal booed when Galatasaray was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Morgan Skog didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 9th minute, Sven-Edvin Ahlbeck fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Tommy Igelström fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bengt-Arne Browald having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Sten Gustafsson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Bengt-Arne Browald was relentless in the 14th minute of the game. Jim Deckberg lost his temper 19 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 18th minute, one of Galatasaray:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Galatasaray. Mölndal's Bengt-Arne Browald played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Morgan Skog in the 25th minute of play. Sten Backlund stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sven-Edvin Ahlbeck's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. With a little luck, Galatasaray's Sten Backlund got control of the ball when Michael Söderström tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 44th minute Sten Gustafsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bengt-Arne Browald saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 0-1 became the score in the 45th minute when Sten Gustafsson elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sven-Edvin Ahlbeck was the one to do the kick off. Michael Söderström fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sten Backlund having to interfere. The attack was good, but when Sten Gustafsson in the 58th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. A collision led to Mölndal getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Michael Söderström hit a great ball. Sten Backlund came out of the goal in the 69th minute to try and stop a shot by Mölndal's Michael Söderström. But to his dismay, Michael Söderström quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Michael Söderström sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Morgan Skog in the 79th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bengt-Arne Browald prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Sten Backlund stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sven-Edvin Ahlbeck's shot from short distance in the 81st minute. After 82 minutes Galatasaray's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Jörgen Klemensson who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Jörgen Klemensson got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Sten Backlund quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mölndal's goalkeeper Bengt-Arne Browald, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Michael Söderström sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 88th minute Sven-Edvin Ahlbeck shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sten Backlund saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 90 minutes, Sten Gustafsson made it 1-2 with a short kick to the right side. Mölndal's Bengt-Arne Browald tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Michael Söderström's late challenge caught a Galatasaray's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Michael Söderström helped the player get up and apologised. In the 93rd match minute, Mölndal was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Michael Söderström to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Michael Söderström in the 96th minute of play forced Galatasaray's goalkeeper Sten Backlund to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
